What exactly is embodiment?
Q: “Everyone is talking about embodiment. What exactly does that mean and how do you do it?”

Hi Kate,
Embodiment means something ever so slightly different to everyone because it's something that is felt or experienced rather than thought about.
Being embodied is to experience a feeling of connection to your body, and a sense of acting as one with it, from a place of congruence and coherence; rather than being a ‘head on stick.’
Most of us have disconnected from our bodies.
Whether that be disconnecting physically and not experiencing a full range of sensation, or disconnecting in another way that leaves us untrusting of our bodies, and as a consequence; the incredible wisdom that our bodies give us access to.
Much of the mainstream narrative and way of life has us disconnecting from our bodily awareness; we medicate and numb out so as not to feel. We are taught that our bodies are wrong rather than treating them with reverence.
Becoming embodied is about coming home to your body, developing a deeper relationship with it, and a connection that has you behaving with deep devotion to this incredible vessel that houses our spirit, intellect, and emotions; synergising them all to make us, us.
As a mBraining Master Coach, when I talk about embodiment, I am talking about making decisions and taking action from a place of using all five of your ‘brains’ or known intelligences: Your head, heart, and gut brain. Once that becomes available to you; adding in your pelvic brain and your autonomic nervous system gives you an even deeper level of embodied awarenessing.
To become embodied, you want to start having a relationship with your body. One built on respect, trust, and love. As you follow this intention you will find that ‘stuff’ comes up - this is totally normal, and navigating the gunk with compassion, courage, and creativity is part of the journey.
If you are interested in going on an embodiment journey with me, my Embodied Alchemy track takes you into your body with a spiritual and intuitive lens.
If you are interested in going on an embodiment journey with a more physical body focus, perhaps look at breathwork, yoga, Qi Gong, Pilates, or something that allows you to integrate a somatic experience with words and story.
For me ‘Embodiment’ is about integrating a ‘bottom up’ and ‘top-down’ approach and process to becoming ‘one’ with your body.
I hope this helps.
