Herbal Tea Blends for summer and fall

Whether you worship the sun and extend summer as long as possible or count the days until you can make pumpkin everything and put on woolies and a jumper, we have an herbal tea blend for you to enjoy this month.

Summer Herbal Iced Tea

Ingredients for 1L

- 3 fresh basil leaves

- A handful of fresh mint (or 2 tablespoons of dried mint)

- 3 tablespoons of dried hibiscus

- Optional: lemon and agave syrup

Instructions:

Bring water to just below boiling point and pour into a teapot (or pan if you don’t have a teapot). If you arrive too late and the water boiled, let cool in the teapot/pan for 5-10 minutes before placing all the herbs in the water with a strainer or compostable teabag.

Leave to steep and cool down for a few hours. Transfer the tea into a jug, then place in the fridge.

I leave my herbal tea to steep overnight and use ice the next day. Serve cold, with a slice of fresh lemon, and add a tablespoon of agave syrup if you like to sweeten it.

And to really get yourself all soaked up into the herbal goodness, try this cooling herbal bath:

Calming, cooling, and skin nourishing herbal bath

- 1/2 cup of sea salt

- 1 cup of Epsom salt

- 2 tablespoons of dried lavender buds and/or 5 drops of lavender essential oil

- 5 drops of peppermint essential oil

- 3 tablespoons of calendula/marigold flowers (fresh or dried)

Autumn Immunity Boost

Ingredients

- 1 tablespoon of dried echinacea

- 1 tablespoon of dried elderberry

- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon chips

- 1 teaspoon of cloves

- Optional: 1 tablespoon of dried hemp

Instructions for a medium tea pot (4 cups)

Pour your almost-boiling water (90 degrees) into your tea pot. If too hot, wait for the water to cool down to avoid burning the herbs. Using a strainer or compostable tea bag, add the ingredients and keep the pot covered while the herbs steep for 10 minutes or more, according to preference. Enjoy with honey and/or a slice of lemon.
